If You Are My Brothers Documentary & Community Engagement Project

If You Are My Brothers...A Straight Street Media Project

Straight Street Media is a nonprofit media company that produces thought-provoking projects that motivate positive change. We are proud to be the producers of "If You Are My Brothers." More than entertainment, the production design and media engagement components of our documentaries, podcasts, films, and other digital media offerings connect and engage the audience. We are indeed “opening Eyes to a New Vision.”

Project Update

We have many exciting plans for 2025. The current healthcare landscape presents numerous challenges, and individuals must take an active role in advocating for their own health. Prevention and diligence are essential. Our goal is to help men and their families demystify the process and alleviate the anxiety, or, in some cases, fear, associated with prostate cancer.

How do we achieve this? It's simple: We engage our target audience with real stories and practical solutions regarding prostate health.

Community Engagement Efforts

We are currently revising our documentary, “If You Are My Brothers,” with plans to premiere the new edition late 2025 or early 2026. In the meantime, we continue our community engagement activities. Our team is working on updating materials used by healthcare organizations and support groups. Many of these organizations have experienced funding cuts, and in some cases, total defunding of various community health initiatives. Through our community engagement initiatives, we are developing partnerships and resources to help fill this gap.

Internship Program

We are collaborating with the Henry W. Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Georgia to offer semester internships in digital marketing, podcast production, and distribution. As a journalism fellow at the Grady College, Straight Street is dedicated to mentoring the next generation of content creators and producers in 2025.

Ralph Franklin Research Fund

Our goal is to raise $25,000 for the Ralph Franklin Research Fund by this time next year. We know this is an ambitious target; however, research funding is facing significant cuts. According to the nonprofit advocacy organization Zero Cancer, federal research funding may be reduced by 32%. Our research partner, the Center for Cancer Research and Therapeutic Development (CCRTD) at Clark Atlanta University, relies on these funds to advance their prostate cancer research focusing on men of color.

We appreciate your support for this vital, life-saving project in 2025 as we navigate attacks on research funding. The need for investment in mutual aid to address gaps in healthcare assistance and education is crucial, especially now.
