If You Are My Brothers Documentary & Community Engagement Project

Project Updates

We have many exciting plans for 2025. The current healthcare landscape presents numerous challenges, emphasizing the need for individuals to actively advocate for their own health. Prevention and diligence are key. Our goal is to help men and their families understand the process around prostate cancer, easing the anxiety and, in some cases, fear that come with it. How do we do this? It's simple: we connect with our audience through real stories and practical solutions related to prostate health.

If You Are My Brothers Podcast Prostate Cancer Awareness Month Special

This September, join host Reggie Hicks for a powerful four-part podcast series from If You Are My Brothers, a companion to the acclaimed documentary and community project.

Each week, we bring together survivors, clinicians, and researchers to talk openly about prostate cancer—covering treatment choices, life after recovery, cutting-edge therapies, and deeply personal stories.

🎧 New episodes every Thursday in September

  • Sept 4: Treatment Pathways

  • Sept 11: Life After Treatment

  • Sept 18: Emerging Therapies

  • Sept 25: Personal Journeys

More than just a conversation, this series is about breaking stigma, busting myths, and giving men and families the knowledge and hope they need.

Film Project Update

We are currently revising our documentary, “If You Are My Brothers,” with plans to premiere the new edition in September 2026, in conjunction with Prostate Cancer Awareness Month. To successfully complete this important project, we are actively seeking fundraising support. Your contributions will play a vital role in advancing our efforts to raise awareness about prostate cancer. Thank you for considering a donation to support this meaningful initiative!

Community Engagement Efforts

We continue our community engagement activities. Our team is updating materials used by healthcare organizations and support groups that have experienced funding cuts or have had their various community health initiatives completely defunded. Through our community engagement initiatives, we are forming partnerships and creating resources to help address these gaps.

Internship Program

We have partnered with the Henry W. Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Georgia to offer semester internships in digital marketing and podcast production. As a journalism fellow at Grady College, our Executive Producer, Reggie Hicks, is committed to mentoring the next generation of content creators and producers in 2025.  Congratulations to our recent interns, Dani Pozo-Garcia, a recent Grady College graduate with a degree in Entertainment and Media Studies, and Jordan Seraphin, a rising junior majoring in marketing.

Ralph Franklin Research Fund

Our goal is to raise $25,000 for the Ralph Franklin Research Fund by this time next year. We recognize that this is an ambitious target; however, research funding is facing significant budget cuts. According to the nonprofit advocacy organization Zero Cancer, federal research funding may be reduced by 32%. Our research partner, the Center for Cancer Research and Therapeutic Development (CCRTD) at Clark Atlanta University, relies on these funds to advance its prostate cancer research, with a focus on men of color.

We appreciate your support for this vital, life-saving project in 2025 as we navigate attacks on research funding. The need for investment in mutual aid to address gaps in healthcare assistance and education is crucial, especially now.
